Homemade Almond (nut) Milk

Homemade Almond (nut) Milk

If you have been thinking of making your own nut milk you have come to the right place. It is so easy to do, you’ll wonder why you hadn’t done this before. Homemade nut milk is packed with so many nutritional benefits, like fiber, protein, magnesium, Vit E, calcium and more. You will know exactly what is in it and yes it really does taste delicious. It doesn’t even come close to the store bought stuff where you’re only getting few almonds, a lot of water, thickener and stabilizing agents.

What you will need:
1 Cup raw almonds
Pinch of sea salt
4 Cups of Water (plus more for soaking)
2-3 Medjool dates
Vanilla (optional)
Nut milk bag or cheese cloth for straining.
Glass jar or pitcher for storing

Get Started:
1.) You will want to soak your Almonds (or any other nut) overnight (or a min of 12 hours) with the Sea salt. This is an important step as it breaks down the phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors found in the almonds. The longer the almonds soak, the creamier the finished milk will be.
2.) Drain and rinse the almonds and discard the water.
3.) Add almonds and water to a high powered blender along with the dates (don’t forget to take the seed out) and vanilla if using.
4.) Blend for 2-3 minutes until smooth and creamy (warning: mixture will expand a little so make sure you have some room at the top of your blender)
5.) Strain mixture through a nut milk bag or cheese cloth into a bowl.
6.) Pour into a glass jar or pitcher and store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Enjoy!
